To protect your home/business there usually is a lot of windows that you have to protect by getting a motion detector so you are double protecting your self. If a intruder tried to get in and broke the glass this way the motion detector will go off and warn any one in the area.
If you use surface mounted versions they can be set up so that you can keep your windows open a few inches for ventilation and still be armed. If you have little kids this is wonderful to have I am sure you hear all the time about children that open windows and fall out of them on the second floor. This will be worth the money and safety for any parent.
