What is the fastest way to hand train a parakeet?
i really need to know.I have 2 parakeets for about a month.They are not scared of my hand they let me touch them but when i put my finger in their feet the dont come on.Some one please tell me the fastest way to hand train my parakeet
The fastest way to tame/train parakeets is to trim their flight feathers. Once they realize they cannot fly, they will be more submissive to you.
You need to be a little more aggressive with them when putting your finger in front of their chest for them to hop up. Simply apply more pressure which will cause the bird to lose it’s balance then step up on your finger for lack of another choice.
If this method doesn’t work, put both hands in the cage with one hand in front of the bird and the other above it to gently push it up onto your finger.
Once you have trimmed the feathers as illustrated in the link below, you will notice a BIG difference in your bird’s behavior towards you. Make sure to play with them both every day by getting them BOTH out at the same time and letting them ride around on your shoulder together!
Make certain to have some powdered sugar or cornstarch immediately available while trimming the flight feathers to stop bleeding in case you make a mistake. Follow these directions exactly:
