Why does the balloon expand in a bell jar with a vacuum pump pumping out the pressure?
I know that the pressure decreases inside the air, but why does the balloon inflate? What does this have to do with pressure and volume? Why does it go back to its original size when it does have the air?
Why does a suction cup fall in the bell jar with decreased pressure and also, why do marshmallows grow with decreased pressure?
The pressure remains the same when the pressure is pumped out of the jar. To make up the lose of pressure, the ballon presses out until they reach equilibrium (when the ballon presses out, the jar area not including ballon decreases, which increases the pressure. Also the pressure of the ballon resisting the expansion keeps it from getting a perfect pressure equilibrium).
The marshmallow works the same way. Inside are pockets of air, and there maybe aqueous gases too (gas particles trapped in prisms of solid/liquid particles)
