Kodak’s new Rugged Playsport Pocket Cam was introduced early January 2010 as being the next release in a great line of cameras and video camcorders. It is a spin off of the Zi8, being basically the same camera only with underwater capabilities. Designed with those people and families with active lifestyles, the Playsport, a name taken from a technique known as crowd sourcing where a company allows consumers to submit potential names for consideration, has all that an active individual would want or need in a camera.
It can take perfect 1080p High-definition video at 30 fps under 10 feet of water. With electronic image stabilization, incredible low light performance and expandable memory and rechargeable batteries, the Playsport can travel just about anywhere and still take great photo stills and video. The memory can be increased to 32 GB for a total of about 10 hours of video. The camera uses SD and SDHC memory cards which come in 4, 8 and 16GB sizes.
There are many different accessories that can be bought to make the KODAK Playsport more accessible in otherwise hard to use areas. There is an adventure mount available for use on helmets, handlebars, etc. for additional stability on the move. The KODAK Flexi Tripods are valuable for stabilizing the camera while recording long intervals without moving.
There are a multitude of camera cases, bags and neck straps for easy carriage. And the issue with power? There are several different types of battery chargers available. The Universal Charger is the classic and standard usage charger. The KODAK solar charger KS100-C+2 is a light and solar powered charger useful for out in the field. And finally, the KODAK portable charger KP100-C+2 is easy to use and able to charge and power at the same time for an easier and more convenient travel power solution.
