How Creat continuous and sustainable long welds with TIG
Not all metals can be handled effortlessly through the procedures for welding, there are some with very high conductivity properties that accumulate and generate heat almost instantly: it is case of aluminum and magnesium. These metals came to be used only until the late 1940s through special procedures welding known as MIG welding that has been largely replaced by the process known as tungsten inert gas or TIG. Currently, the TIG welding is used almost all aluminum parts that require exemplary execution. The arc is formed between a tungsten electrode and the metal surface, the result being a very clean weld with no sign of oxidation whatsoever.
Tig welding is a process automatic or semi-automatic which allows the creation of long continuous welds and sustainable that would not otherwise be possible. The best shield gas required by TIG welding is helium, argon or a mix, because, in combination, these two chemicals increase the welding speed and power of the process of using the piece depth. But Argon gas is preferred when TIG welding is concerned, the explanation for this preference lies in the gas density – Heavier than air – and its coverage of high quality.
Why the presence of the inert gas TIG welding so important? The flow of argon passes through the welding device along the electrode, and during this process, it acts as a shield against various contaminants in the atmosphere that can affect one way or the outcome of the procedure. To put it in simple terms, argon prevents air outside the weld area. Although TIG welding can not currently be used to create all kinds of welding very thin steel and aluminum metals are still the most widely associated with the procedure for tungsten inert gas.
The equipment must also be adapted to the demands of TIG welding, for example, there are several types of joints specially created for this purpose. We could quote t-seals, gaskets corner, lap and butt joints here, some of them need a fill stem, others not. The independent form is attached butt, where metal parts are connected along the seams. Using each of the above in the TIG welding processes involving different types of seams and classification of metal parts. Good knowledge of the specific process is an absolute necessity here.
