aluminum brazing?
when brazing with 2 aluminum metal items and using aluminum brazing rods is flux required to be used like with soldering or is the rod itself all thats needed with the heating torch?
Technically, you can’t braze ally. You can weld it with either a TIG (using A/C current wth a pilot arc), MIG, or oxy-acetyline torch . Do not use flux. Clean the area with stainless steel wire brush immediatly before you are ready to weld (ally forms an oxide immeditaly it comes into contact with the atmosphere). You will not get a moulton pool of the parent metal (as you would when welding ferrous metals)- the process is more like plastic welding. If you go too slow, or use too much heat, you will blow holes in the workpiece. Practice on some scrap ’till you get the hang of it. Good luck!!!!!
