How do I test the water in my aquarium?
Until now I have these kits ammonia nitrate PH What else nessessary to have a good community tank?? my water is a very slight yellowish tint that is normal? I had a case of a fungus and just added a little salt tank to a level safe for fish, but deadly to bacteria and fungi I missed something?
You need to test for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates per week until you are sure your tank is a healthy balance of bacteria. pH is really not important unless you raise some delicate fish that require specific water. Do you have any driftwood in your tank? It will generate tannins that can safely turn the tank a little yellow. Salt will not kill the fungus or bacteria. You need to deal with specific drugs for the problem. The salt is not necessarily safe for fish and it is better not to use if you do not salt fish mollies or guppies as robust. You need to treat water to new courses in your tank with air. Forget the ring or one of the products of ammonia binding. They do nothing but linking ammonia and configuration of your water tests. **
