Voice Volume keeps the sound of voices level, even when actors speak against loud background noise, so that dialogue stays understandable. Steady Sound is designed to keep volume where the viewer sets it. No more reaching for the remote to turn down roaring commercials. And S-Force provides theatre quality sound by transmitting audio as the ear perceives it without bouncing sound waves off a booster.
However, for many consumer Sony’s biggest news will be the way the the Sony KDL40W5810 TV reduces the manufacturer’s environmental impact. Both the set and its packaging are produced from materials that have been recycled. This means that the packaging and the set both can be recycled eventually.
In addition, Sony has installed the new “Eco” technology to this model. Eco uses a light sensor to detect ambient light in a room and reduces the TV brightness to compensate for it. This reduces the TV’s power consumption and can even save money on viewers’ electricity bills.
Sony also has included its Applicast software to link the TV to Sony’s Internet channel, where downloadable widgets will allow viewers to access online information such as weather forecasts, stock reports and more.
