How do I paint on shoes made of a fake leather?
What type of paint would get the most wear? Not crack? And how would I prep the surface for painting? And finish it with what?
I do this all the tie to my old shoes, often painting a design that matches some fabric design on, say, a jacket or dress. It is really quite easy.
I clean the shoes thoroughly with soap and water. Then I paint them with acrylic paint from the tube. Use thin layers of paint, thinning it with water and letting it dry in between coats.
Then use an acrylic finish, either matte or glossy — or mix the two to get a semi-gloss. And voila! Instant new shoes!
