How long do steel toe combat boots last and how can i make them last longer?

I recently bought a pair of Miltec Invader 10 hole steel toe combat boots.
They have steel toe and back and screws into the sole,quality cowhide leather.
How long on average do they last and what can i do to make them last longer?
basically keep them clean, dry and polished. If they get muddy wash them well and allow them to dry where they are not going to get baked. Polish them often both to keep them supple and help with waterproofing and maintaining the leather.
