What’s the difference between a starter cable and positive battery terminal cable?
My truck intermittently wouldn’t start and I was told I needed to tighten the wires on my starter. I had that done and it ran for 5 days then completely stopped. Now I was told I need to replace those wires but when I called the auto parts stores some said it was the starter cable and others the positive battery terminal cable. What’s the difference between the two and is there some way I can find out for sure which I need to replace. Thanks!
The starter cable goes from the battery to the starter. The positive battery cable usually goes to the positive side of the alternator. They both connect at the same spot on the terminal.
If you are having starting problems. Make sure that all of the connections are tight and have no corrosion on them. Positive batt, negative batt, starter power, starter ground, alternator positive, alternator ground.
