Would I be able to put the videos from my Sony CCD-TRV57 camcorder onto my computer with a single cable?
On my last question, I accidentally put the battery’s model number (rookie mistake :/). Any help appreciated.
The Sony CCD-TRV57 is an 8mm, analog video, tape based camcorder.
To get that video from your camcorder into a computer, you will need to get either an internal “capture card” for your computer or an external “analog/digital converter”.
Pinnacle (Dazzle) or Roxio (among many others) make USB compatible units. Canopus makes Firewire compatible units.
Basically, you plug the camcorder’s AV-out (the same way you plug into a TV or a VCR) into the A/D converter. The A/D converter plugs into your computer.

Refer to pages 27 or 52 for the AV cable to connect the camcorder to the A/D converter (instead of the TV or VCR in the diagram).
There is no USB or firewire port on this analog video camcorder.
