martin d15? any comments? advice?…thinking about buying one?
I have a Taylor…but thinking about that rich solid mahogany sound that gets better with age
PR I think you may be right my freind….I had a d2r…..great sound….do you know anything about the d15?
I own 2 Martin guitars. A D1-R and a D28. Both exceptional guitars. I’ve also played some Taylor guitars. One of the local shops sells them. I’ve been told several times “try this one. It sounds just as good as a Martin”. Maybe so. But thanks, I’ll just go ahead and buy the Martin. You can’t go wrong if it says CF Martin on the headstock.
Edit: I have never played the D15. But looking at the specs and reviews, it looks really nice. It has a satin finish which leads me tho believe the mids and highs will be great. My D1r is satin. It has a lot more high end than the D28. Also the mahogany will help with the sound and the Martin quality is second to none. Mine are 7 and 9 yrs old. The absolutely sound better with age. I’d replace the strings that come on it. They are not the best. Get a good quality phosphor bronze.If you live in a cold winter climate, make sure to get a humidifier for it. Guitars of this quality sometimes tend to react to dry air badly. The body can crack, bracing come loose and other nasty things. Humidifiers are inexpensive and can save costly repairs down the road. Use them any time the weather is cold enough to turn the furnace. I’ve seen quite few damaged guitars from dryness. And that is not covered in the warranty. Good luck with your purchase.
