Socket Holder
Does a device exist that allows a battery-powered device to be powered via wall socket? How could it be made?
For example, a tv remote control that runs on 2 1.5V AA batteries could be powered by plugging it into a wall socket. It seems that there should be a way to use an AC/DC converter and a voltage divider if needed to bring the voltage down to 3V. This could connect to the battery holders (not sure what they’re called…the metal that the battery touches) to power the device. This would be nice for battery powered things that stay in one place, so that I wouldn’t have to constantly replace batteries.
Outside of the fact that you used a horrible example, you could always use an AC to DC converter to replace AA batteries. A search of AC TO DC ADAPTERS will give you something like http://www.oselectronics.com/ose_p17.htm
Rechargeable batteries are also an option, but in your bad example, you would be better off going to the dollar store and buying 2 AA batteries for a buck than hardwiring your remote control to an adapter or spending $10 for rechargeables.
