Compound Microscope?
I have here three questions regarding compound microscopes.
(1) Are the magnification powers of 40x, 100x and 400x of a compound microscope satisfactory for viewing microorganisms such as bacteria?
(2) To save money, is it okey to reuse the microscope slides and cover? Can I just clean them to be reused?
(3) Where can I buy a compound microscope here in the Philippines? What is the price range (in Philippine Pesos)?
1) Bacteria can only really be resolved at 1000x using an oil-immersion technique. At 400x (high power) stained bacteria look like a colored mat. Eukaryotic life can easily be viewed on high power, however.
2) You can definitely reuse the slides
3) Your local microscope dealer. Prices will vary though.
