Sink Overflow
Repair a rusty overflow sink drain?
My family recently moved into a rental house where the landlord considers everything from weatherstripping to a rusty overflow sink drain as *cosmetic*. I just cannot brush my teeth in a sink with a rusty drain area and overflow hole. We do NOT wish to pay to have new sinks installed so what would be the best way to repair/cover the rust?
My husband just took a very close look and the sink is rusting out with pieces easily broken off the overflow hole. Is there a repair for this?
If the rust is showing on the overflow, and it is part of the ceramic of the sink, you can clean it with a pumice stone.
Just rub a pumice stone on it and it should clean the ceramic. Pumice will not scratch or damage ceramic or porcelain. You can also use it on hard water stains on tile.
You can buy one at most hardware stores or at a swimming pool supply.
