Don’t Let Bathtub Problems Shower Down On Your Wallet

Our showers and tubs see the most waste water. Our showers and tubs catch hair, dirt, and soap scum. Over time, buildup accumulates in the drain and traps beneath the tub and shower. If the drain is not taken care of, then it can cause the shower or tub to drain slowly or it can clog up completely to make a big mess. Some other things to look for would be;
- Look for leaks behind the shower head where it connects to the arm. It could be loose and could cause a loss in pressure for your shower
- Look for water coming from behind your spout. You could have a leak in your wall that you don’t know about.
- If you have an access panel to view your valve, check it regularly to make sure you don’t have leaks that could cause damage and cost you money
As a plumber, I see service calls all the time about a drain leaking in a ceiling or on to a floor and it caused a lot of damage. Keep an eye out on your ceilings or crawlspaces for water damage. If you notice smells or noises, it could also be a problem. When you have problems like these, it’s best to call a plumber.
When remodeling a bathroom, installing a new shower or bathtub can be a real pain. I have installed a few 3 piece showers on a remodel that gave a bathroom a whole new look. Sometimes going cheaper doesn’t mean you are losing quality. It still can look good for less money.
