Shower Arm
Can you extend a shower arm downward if it’s too high?
I had the plumber here yesterday, and thought in his well-stocked van he would have some piece of pipe that could extend my shower arm a few inches more in length, so I can reach the shower head. But he said he didn’t. I really don’t want to go through the expense/hassle of drilling a different hole lower in the decorative tile–and then blocking the old hole.
Was this too much to expect from a plumber? Is there a simple way just to extend the shower arm down about 4 to 5 inches?

just remove the shower head…(.leave the arm) get a 1/2″ brass coupling and a 1/2″ X 4″ brass nipple and a roll of teflon tape……wrap some tape around the arm threads (always wrap the tape in the direction of the way the next fitting twists on) attach nipple to coupling and head to nipple that will lower it about 4 inches chrome coupling and nipple will look better hey who gunna see it?
