How does wireless security encryption work?
Ok in as simple terms as possible. how exactly does wireless security encryption work? i have WPA-PSK enabled for my wireless security. how in detail does this prevent people from seeing my info?
The terms “simple” and “exactly in detail” are mutually exclusive, you can only get one or the other I’m afraid.
One ‘simple’ way:
Encryption occurs between your computer and the router.
These are jumbled data packets, based on increasingly difficult levels of algorithms (none>WEP> WPA-PSK> WPA-AES> WPA-2), selected by the administrator of the router.
The NAT router establishes a private IP with each computer connected within it’s own LAN (local area network) so each machine gets only traffic intended for it; keeping traffic secret from any other connected machine (or machine listening outside the LAN).
