How do get a broken screw out?
We are changing spark plugs in my Kia, and they are under this plastic cover on the engine. The stupid plastic cover has 6 screws, and we got 5 of them out, and the 6th one is completely stripped. We already spent over $100 to fix my car up, and we really don’t want to go buy one of those screw extractor things.
Are they metal or plastic screws? If they are metal you could use something with a point like an awl and get it into the outer edge of the head of the screw and tap it out counter clockwise. Be patient because it will slip and you may need to create a dimple by first hammering straight down before you start your circular motion. You could also try using a much smaller drill bit and drilling through the center and when you reverse it may pull the screw out with it. If you aren’t interested in replacing that screw, just drill out the head so you can remmove the cover and say f-it.
