Hey Jim knows?? Another Corian question…?
The Scotch Brite pad isn’t buffing out the sanding?! Any other ideas? Would a different buffer pad and an electric buffer do the trick?
First of all, did you verify that the countertop is really Corian and not another material? Also, how fine did you sand? Were you able to remove the candle damage? If it is Corian, you should use several grades of sandpaper, sanding progressively finer, and covering a larger area with each step in the process. The final sanding step should be at least 360 grit and maybe as high as 600 grit. Then you use the Scotch-Brite pad to blend in the finish with the rest of the countertop.
It is possible to solve this sort of problem with hand sanding, but an electric random orbit sander will produce the best and quickest results, if you have access to one.
Someone else recommended contacting a countertop dealer. You can do that, but it will cost you some money to use a professional. I was trying to help you do it yourself.
