A deadbolt, when locked, shoots a bolt through the door frame, making it impossible to open the door. While you can still gain access by smashing the door down, this becomes increasingly more difficult with the length of the bolt. The door plates need to be installed using the long screws that come with Dexter locks and Schlage Camelot locks, as well, since these are designed for optimum security. Deadbolts have been used for many generations and are now being incorporated into the more complicated locks, like Schlage Camelot keypad locks. You want your home to be secure, so why not invest in some heavy duty locks? The Dexter locks, which are straight up deadbolts, are great for basic security. If you want something a bit more complicated, something that doesn’t require a key to get into the house, then a Schlage Camelot might be the answer.
