Inhale. Exhale.
Sharp shards of ice
Pierce through my chest
Like the thrust of a knife.
Rewind.Replay.
Increasingly macabre scenes
Come to me nightly
In my chamber of dreams.
Stretched out on the rack,
Screwed in by my thumbs;
Fear grips my mind,
Fear of worse yet to come…
A vision. A spectre.
My face in the mirror,
Wild-eyed stare.
The haunt shuffles nearer.
The faint sound of cruel laughter,
A drip-drippimg leaky spout,
The unholy symphony
Of tormented shouts,
Begging for mercy.
Here, there is none.
I’m blathering confessions
For things I have not done.
I give them my lover,
My family, my peers.
With my head thrashing madly
My pillow damp with tears.
I awaken,
The sun has risen.
What can this nightmare mean?
Ask not, or you may find yourself
With me in the chamber of dreams.
