Reciever Logic

My sony home theater reciever keeps on shutting off at high volumes why?
i have a sony audio/video reciever that worked excellent untile today. i hooked up all the speakers and when u turn it up not even half way the sound shuts off and it blinks “protector” repeatedly and i am not sure why it does that. the reciever is proabably a few years old maybe 5 or 6 with the original pro logic 1. what should i do?
Check your speaker connections to make sure you don’t have any stray wires touching each other. That could be the simplest cause. After 5 or 6 years and then to suddenly have a problem could indicate that your amplifier is failing and needs to be replaced.
