Just cleaned portable gas stove – now burning green flame?
I cleaned my gas stove using a product called ‘exit mould’. It contains Sodium Hydroxide, alkaline salts and Sodium Hydrochlorite.
The stove now emits a green flame when i light it.
Am I likely to blow myself up if I leave it on? Should I light it again and leave it burning until the flame goes back to blue?
The green flame is most likely copper particles you dislodged into the grates or some copper substance mixed in the cleaning compound; and the hot gas flame is oxidizing them. If you haven’t damaged any gas plumbing while cleaning, I doubt that you’re threatened, if the cleaning product was designed for such. I would think that the green tint would be short lived and assume it doesn’t give off any offensive odor.
