Planer Knives
wilson planer thicknesser help?
we have an old wilson planer thicknesser/saw combination at work. not sure how old it is but been in workshop for years, its a 3 phase motor and belt driven, 3 belts 1 for each part,
the planer has a belt still on it but the other parts dont. we ran the planer and that seems to be good but we are unsure how to rebate on it. we have a drawer full of bits including rebating knives but cant seem to find out how to fit them on.there appears to be a rebating knife holder that looks like it would fit on the planer spindle but the planer doesn’t appear to move out to allow the holder in.
if anyone has any experience of this type of m/c or knows where i can find some info on it please let me know, tried to search for instructions on the net but no luck so far
It should wind out to the side to expose the rebating knives and then you should be able to lock the spindle to undo and change for various sizes and thicknesses, if not,the whole mechanism might hinge up in the air after unlocking some side bolts like an Electric hacksaw.
Have you got something in your box of tricks that resembles a winding handle for that purpose for that type of machine.
