Is it necessary to do aeronautical engineering 2 become a pilot?
I’m in my third year level now and next school year(that would be this year, in June) I’m gonna be a senior high, then it’s time to choose the next part of life. The point is that I wanted to become a pilot but before becoming a pilot we need 4 to 5 years, is Aeronautical Engineer okay? or there are more better course to enter before entering a pilot school? Help please. this is my dream.
I am a Canadian whose job was in Aerospace recruitment. I sourced applicable candidates here in Canada, USA, UK, Taiwan and Brazil. In my opinion, the need for good, highly skilled personnel in the category of Aeronautical Engineering & Flight Sciences is on-going. Within that subgroup there are categories such as aircraft design, airframe stress and loads analysis, manufacturing engineer, reliability & maintainability engineering… to name only a few.
As for wanting to be a pilot – yes that makes sense to me. In my experience – at least 2+ out of 10 candidate resumes I reviewed were in possession of a pilots license. If you can achieve a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and obtain a pilots licence – i say do both.
Take charge and pursue your goals. Pilots and astronauts may have multiple degrees in fields of study such as medicine, biology, psychology, human ergonomics… etc. I propose going to university and in your available time – attend a recreational pilot school.
