Experience with heat and creatures in Phoenix, AZ?
Hello everyone. My husband and I are considering moving to Phoenix. The hot house prices are looking for us here in New England. However, I see that from July to September is really hot as 100 degrees +. How can you people to Phoenix in general deal with that? Everyone has an air conditioned house? Generally stay inside during the day? Moreover, being a place that does not really have any poisonous creatures not worry, I am concerned by the stories of scorpions / Spiders / snakes I've heard. Have you found any of those who will be a real problem? I know I must be careful when hiking … but just around the house or neighborhood? The horror stories of being stung while sleeping in the bed are scaring me! Thank you!
You will be very well Phoenix. Yes, not everyone is AC in their homes, cars, schools and businesses. You really can not exist without it. An alternative is to spend the summer in a pool. In fact, if you drink lots of water you can do things like walking, running, etc. play golf at midsummer. You will find a way to adapt to the heat. Where so many false stories about scorpions / spiders / snakes come? I think they come from people who do not live here. People on Yahoo Answers who just get bored and want to type wifetales old ones based on stereotypes and legends. There are scorpions. I saw a live one in four years. I killed two black widows, you have in New England as well. I heard a rattlesnake bit a ravine near a golf coourse once. Scorpions live in areas or habitats that are not getting much activity. It is rare to find in the metropolitan areas where there are lots of vehicle vibration in the ground. They sink into the earth during the cooler months and sort of hibernation. You can see at night when low nighttime temperatures are above 100 degrees. They love the darkness and extreme heat. Many people hire an exterminator to spray around their homes at the approach of warm weather. This is not a bad idea if you have pets and small children. Remember that the crickets are favorite foods scorpions and crickets eat everything, including other crickets. So keep your house clean. Do not eat in the rooms and drop food on the ground or find your food crickets and scorpions can try to find crickets. It's one thing the food chain. Do not be frightened by rumors and false stories. I was born in New York and I much prefer Arizona at New England. One reason is that Arizona is much newer and cleaner.
