how do you install a doorknob on a different type of door hole?

I dont know what i should do because as you can see from the pictures the first doorknob has a much larger side hole than the privacy lock.
yea i figured it would require some odd modification T C but i want to lock the door from the outside as well as the inside in a deadbolt locking from the inside only?
What you have is a mortis lock which {if it locks} uses a skeleton key.
To modify your door to fit a standard lock would take some modification and just wouldn’t look right.
You could purchase a mortis lock that may fit but they are expensive.
What I would suggest is just installing a simple deadbolt above or below the existing lock.
If yours doesn’t have the access for a skeleton key you could purchase one that does

Once you get into hiring a carpenter to modify the door, and install a new lockset, you are in the hundreds ……at which point you could just buy a new door.
