Nickel Lavatory
Lavatory drain tee in a 2×4 wall? I want to use a decorative escutcheon, i.e., no visible slip joint.?
I’m installing a new lavatory, and the drain is centered in the 2×4 wall that houses the vertical portion of the drain. I want to use a brushed nickel escutcheon to match the brushed nickel p-trap I’m installing. The trouble is, the sanitary tee I purchased makes the 1-1/4″ slip joint protrude from the wall. Any ideas about what sort of fitting I could use to keep that slip joint inside the wall?
If the tee is centered in the wall, it should leave you enough space for what you are doing. Make sure the trap adapter that you have coming out of the leg of the tee is of the bushing type that fits inside the tee and not the hub type that requires you to insert a small piece of pipe. If this still doesn’t leave you enough room. you can use a vent tee. The leg doesn’t protrude as far and there is no sweep on it. It is only supposed to be used for venting only but if it is your house sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do
