Rabbit bald spot, could it be fleas?
I have two bunnies, male and female, about 8 months old. Today I noticed the female has two bald spots on her back, one the size of a dime and the other of a nickel. One of the spots has a purplish/bluish dot underneath it. Could this be a flea egg or something like that? I also noticed she’s been licking herself more often than usual today…
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Probably the buck is mounting her and pulling out her fur – especially if they are not neutered.
Bucks can be castrated from the age of four months; but can still reproduce for up to two months after the operation.
Does can be spayed from 6 months onwards; and can have an “emergency spay” (abortion) also.
I suggest you separate them now;neuter them and in two months start bonding them again.
Rabbit shelters already have plenty of occupants; please don’t add to this number.
PS – with regards to an above poster: rabbits are LAGAMORPHS not rodents.
