How to solve a multi-step equation with steps?
So I’m in 8th grade taking advanced math or Algebra 1 for high school credits. 8th grade regular math is too easy, but algebra is WAY freakin hard. Examples of homework problems:
2(m+1) = 16
&&
5(3x + 12) = -15
PLENTY of thanks.
PS: I don’t want any hard terms and instructions like “first combine like terms then get variables…” blah blah blah. Please just help me. >.>;;

In the first one, multiply the 2 by everything inside the parentheses. After you do this, your equation should look like:
2m+2=16
Now subtract 2 from the left and right sides. On the left side, the 2 will cancel (because you’re subtracting 2), and you’ll be left with:
2m=14
Now divide everything by 2 to get:
m=7
To check, plug m=7 into your original equation, like this:
2(7+1)=16
2(8)=16
16=16
If both sides of the equation are equal, then you have the right answer.
For the second one, multiply the “stuff” in the parentheses by 5:
5(3x+12)= -15
15x+60= -15 (multiplied by 5)
Subtract 60 from both sides; the 60 on the left will cancel:
15x= -75
Divide both sides by 15 to get:
x= -5
To check, plug in x= -5 to the original equation:
5(3(-5)+12)=-15
5(-15+12)=-15
5(-3)=-15
-15=-15
