Molding Wood
Help….I’d like stained wood molding through out my house, but can’t decided on the stain or wall colors.
My house is pretty small, but I want it to look beautiful. I’d really like to have stained wood molding around all my doors, windows and crown molding, but can’t choose a stain. Would a pine staine be best? Which color stain will go with more colors?
On wall colors, can I texture my walls with a dark color and have it not look so dark? And will texturing a wall make the room look any bigger? Is it better to just texture one wall rather then all of them?
also my dining room/kitchen is connected to my living room…what colors would go good with a blue or green living room?

The color of the stained trim would depend on the style of the house. More traditional houses would use pine, oak or just a natural finish, whereas a more modern home you could use a walnut, cherry, maple or nutmeg. As for the stain that would go with the most wall colors I would say walnut, maple or a med. brown tone (these are the most neutral of the bunch). Textured walls are nice but the more different colors you have going on in a room the more choppy the room (and therefor the smaller it will feel) so if I was to texture the walls I would say all or none. I would suggest gold, red, terra-cotta, chocolate brown or taupe to with blue/green (but when choosing golds and yellows be careful they intensify on the walls).
