1990 MPV 3.0 LITER 2wd auto runs good for minute?
then starts to back fire i have to tap the gas to keep it running runs ruff for long time then runs good for 2seconds then back fires again i changed the fuel filter still runs fuff i put gas antifreeze in but no such luck any body got some trouble shooting ideas
i own a repair shop,and you need to run a compression check on it,and check the timing,,it sounds like it has jumped timing bad,,they will do this and run smooth for a minute or two then run bad again,i been at this for 36 yrs,and on today’s cars there not like they was 25 yrs ago,,there more complex than ever,,but after you do these two test it might help you narrow it down some,also there are a lot of external things that can cause one to run like this also..you may wind up having to take it to a local garage and have it checked real good,,i hope this help,s.good luck with it.
