How do I eliminate brushstrokes after painting a metal door frame?
I am repainting metal door frames at an apartment building. I am supplied with acrylic latex paint. Should I remove the old paint completelty or just sand it until it is smooth?
I would sand the frame to remove all loose paint. Just sand to break the glaze if the paint is sound. Alcohol or mineral spirits will remove grease spots. Use a “hot dog roller” along with a brush . Apply with roller or brush but finish with the roller. A hot dog roller is a small diameter about 1 1/2″ X6or 8″ with a really short nap. It will give a pleasant stippled finish as apposed to streaks or brush marks with a brush. Once you get going you’ll be surprised how nice the finish is and how fast it goes. Happy Rolling!
