Makita Lxt

I have a Makita LXT battery charger 110V and need it to work in UK?
I know I can get a step down transformer, but as this is a battery charger unit – can’t i just use a straight adaptor or change the plug?
If not – what VA step down do I need?
You need to a 220 to 110 down converter.
