1000 watt amp?
I have a 1000 watt amp and wanna run it in my 96 neon…my brother told me about amperes. i dont know what that means. will a 1000 watt amp kill my alternator??
ok, so if my amp doesnt perform to 1000 watts should i get a more powerful amp to get my subs to perform properly?? the subs are 500 watts a piece.
Don’t worry your alternator is going to be OK. Amperes is the name of the unit used to measure electric current. 1000 w are powerful but note enough to kill your alternator. I recommend using a capacitor (about $40 – 100) which will prevent the amp to draw a lot of current in a given moment, thus eliminating the dimming of your car’s lights when a hard bass is playing. Also try replacing the factory speakers otherwise within a few months you will be buying another set because of the power of the amp.
