HVLP (high volume low-pressure) gun is an air spray gun which was developed to replace conventional gun. The gun works using air as its primary atomization force with the help of the two necessary components of compressed air pressure and volume but in different quantities.

With its great technology, HVLP spray guns offer neat and clean color pattern. Moreover, if you use a lot of volume of air instead of a lot of pressure (like conventional guns did), then you will not only atomize coatings but also do so more efficiently. The efficiency improvement was mostly associated with the fact that the atomized paint particles moved at a slower speed than paint particles that were atomized with high air pressure. We call this characteristic as spray particle velocity. The higher the velocity of the paint particle the lower the efficiency would be.
HVLP spray guns are available in different style; besides that, all come with one or more spray nozzles designed to deliver different materials. There are different types of paints available like Enamels, lacquers, urethanes, varnishes and stains which have different viscosity level and are best shot with a specific nozzle size. If you see the manual of material to be sprayed commonly it specifies a recommendation for nozzle size, and the gun’s manual may also denote for which materials it is developed to shoot. So before buying a HVLP spray gun, choose the paint first and then look for the suggested spray gun.
You can find HVLP guns in various sizes in small or standard size. You can use small guns for touch up jobs or for putting on graphics to motorcycles or vehicles, while standard guns are used for painting complete vehicles. So, whether you are taking a major job or a small work to be done in your home, HVLP gun is perfect choice.
