Would it be safe or effective to blow out the pilot on my heater?
I keep the thermostat in my trailer as low as it will go, 50F, but the heater still comes on. I really dont need it, i run an electric one in the bedroom where I sleep, and bundle up around the house otherwise. It is very drafty, and a waste of money to heat the whole place. I have one of those in-wall-set standing heaters in the hallway with the pilot at the bottom. If i blow out the pilot, is that safe? will it still emit gas? ….would it be effective?
There should be a gas shutoff somewhere that would be better to shut off. If you blow out the pilot light it will only be ok if everything is working properly. There should be a button that lets you light the pilot and a thermostat that won’t let the gas turn on unless the pilot light is lit. If they are all working it will be ok.
