Gun Accessories
I’m getting my first gun soon. What kind of accessories should I get for it?
Its a Savage MKII G 22LR Rifle. I guess I’d like to get a scope for it…any recommendations? Whats the cheapest one I can get that is still decent and good enough for a beginner such as myself?
Also, how much ammo should i buy?
Should I get any of these:
-cleaning and oiling supplies?
-snap caps?
Any other recommendation would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

When it comes to your first scope you want something that’s going to last for awhile without teaching you to hate it! Here’s a, ‘middle of the road’ model with all the magnification you’ll ever need on a 22 LR rifle. (I’ve been using a well-made centerfire 4X magnification scope on a 22 LR rifle for the past 35 years – Same scope! And either it or, maybe, me seldom misses.)

The mounts and rings are included. Yes, you’ll need a 22 LR cleaning kit. Any CLP cleaner will do for use as, both, a cleaner and lubricant. Forget the snap caps; you won’t be dry-firing that 22 anyway. (The 22 caliber steel’s too soft to take much dry-firing.)
A couple of, ‘bricks’ of ammo from Wal-Mart should keep you busy for awhile. Of what’s out there right now, I like Federal. (I’d get the cleaning kit from Wal-Mart, too.) When you pass the Pharmacy Department, stop and pick up a dirt cheap bottle of pharmaceutical-grade mineral oil. It makes a cheap and excellent alternative to high priced gun oils; and MO is not, in anyway, toxic – Feels good on your skin, too! Don’t forget to get 22 caliber cotton cleaning patches; it’ll make cleaning so much easier and faster for you.
