Grip Soldering

How do I remove a soldered copper shut-off valve in the basement…?
There is a leak in the soldered joint on the valve leading to the outside spigot. When I heated up the joints, barely any solder came out (only a small drop on one side)! I’m using a propane torch, but I’m afraid of over heating and warping the pipes. I’m trying to avoid cutting replacing pipe – I was planning on just replacing the valve.
As everything heated up, I tried to rotate the valve with pipe wrenches and vice grips to begin removing it, but it just won’t budge…. Any ideas?
If there’s any water at all in the pipe, the torch can’t heat it hot enough – so first thing to do is get ALL the water out. So you’ll have to turn off the main water and drain it back if you can.
Then when you heat it, make sure steam can escape from somewhere – out the outside spigot perhaps. This will further dry the pipe on the inside.
After it’s heated and steamed out, put some flux on the joint and see if you can get it to run back in where it’s leaking.
Then put the torch on it with vengeance – or even get a friend with a torch and put both torches on this thing. It won’t hurt your pipe – and melt some solder into it – might work.
If that doesn’t work – take your cutter and cut out the pipe and throw the parts away and go get some others – they’re cheap. clean the fittings really well with steel wool – then plenty of flux to pull the solder – then solder it all together with lots of heat. You should be done in time to drink coffee all afternoon like a real plumber!
