Grid Strainer
DE filter power going back in pool through returns?
OK…I have a Nautilus FNS 48 D.E. Filter… debris and D.E. power was return through the returns back into pool. I just changed the grids(brand new) ones and i still have the same problem. When i open the tank after i backwash there is alot of D.E. powder on top of the manifold. The Strainer air relief stem that sits on top of manifold.It is the stem piece with top screen on it. The screen is a little ripped. Do you think that could be causing the problem or in additon to changing that i should change the whole manifold, which has no visible cracks..This is driving me nuts… And i just bought new grids.

Sounds like the air relief screen is the culprit. Glad you checked the manifold for cracks. That, too, is a frequent problem. Shouldn’t be a big deal to replace the screen. There is an old style and new style, though. Take the old one along just to be sure.
