Will removing the gold tab on our new receptacle prevent blowing fuses in our kitchen?
We installed 3 new receptacle oulets in our kitchen, they have black and red wires screwed into the right-side gold screws. When we plugged the double-fuses back in they blew automatically. Will removing the tab on the outlet fix our problem? I believe it is a split receptacle.
Absolutely – receptacles, come with this tab intact in order to ‘gang’ them on one power supply. When two power supplies are introduced, the tab must be broken or else you end up with the problems that you have now.
