- Try to avoid glare problems and issues by purchasing a crystal chandelier that is equipped with tiny shades, or mini-shades. If it doesn’t have one, try adding tiny shades to bare candle-type lighting.
- Take note that a chandelier is more of a decorative room fixture than a functional lighting apparatus. This one doesn’t need a thousand flame bulbs just because the room is large. Allow other lighting in the room to effectively supplement, or help out a more restrained chandelier.
- If possible, try sticking to chandeliers with classic looks. It would be wise to remember that a colored chandelier will become quite outdated in another 5-10 years. Do match the chandelier to the room and the mood you want, rather than with the times.
- Select a chandelier that perfectly blends well with the ambience, mood and style of the other furnishings in the room. If an elaborate and ornate chandelier would stick out in the room, consider something more reserved so that the lighting fixture can be viewed and liked for its beauty rather than for its elaborateness.
