anything that identifies you digitally, could be a actual fingerprint image, or a scanned signature, or rental scan (bioinformatics).
It can also be a unique digital arrangement (algorithm) that identifies a digital format. Example. Youtube uses digital fingerprint technology to tell if the song being uploaded is copyrighted (every mp3 song has a unique pattern to it).
