how effective would it be if i cleaned my carpets using a scrub brush and carpet cleaner and wet dry vac?
DO NOT use a brush.
You will fray the fiber tips.
At the least, rent a machine. Do not use too much soap, and be sure it is all extracted. Any residue will attract and hold dirt.
