Drain Brushed
the head of my oil drain plug is stripped. what can i do?
so whoever tightened my oil drain plug before i bought my car pretty much made sure it wouldnt be opened again. i tried a wire brush. wd40. wrenches. vice grips. channel locks and so far all i was able to do is strip the head worse than how bad it was before i started. what can i do to get that out? i dont have extra cash for equipment that does that stuff. for the most part the head is round.
If the vice grip won’t do the trick try this.
This always works, it is a technique used to pull off the axle nut on volkswagens, that is; torqued to 225 ft lbs so it will easily work on your drain plug. Use a chisel and a hammer. With the chisel cut a notch in the drain plug by hitting it with a hammer in a counter-clock wise direction, and keep hitting til it comes loose.
