How do I repair a shower diverter? The water coming out of both shower and bath.?
When I turn the shower knob, water out of the showerhead, but still no bath faucet, which is cold water. Shower Water temp is OK.
Something worn and leaking valve. Turnoff water meter at home, then unscrew the handle and the valve stem nut. Pull the valve stem and look over. If it looks crap with minerals that you may be able to correct it by simply using sandpaper to scrape the crud. If it is really and corroded holes through the edges tattered, it leads to a hardware store quality. They usually have a big screen with about a hundred of valve stems. Find just like yours. If they do not have exactly the same person, or if you're cheap, and the rod a little Black O-rings around it, digging in their drawers o-ring for replacement O-rings. Put the valve back together, perhaps with a little lubricant Silicone it passes more easily. Voila. You now know more than Joe the Plumber.
