Can I plug my digital piano into my laptop speakers?
I’ve just got this new keyboard- a Roland. It doesn’t have its own internal speakers and it’s a while until my amp arrives. My ears are getting a little tired of using headphones non-stop, and I’m wondering if it’s possible to plug in my laptop speakers (using a jack adaptor) and use them as a “makeshift keyboard amp. I’m just really scared to try it in case I blow up the speakers and/or the electrical socket.
Your computer speaker will work just fine as long as you have the right adapter. You will not hurt them. What you need is a 1/4 inch stereo male to 1/8 inch stereo female adapter. Plug the adapter into your headphone jack on the keyboard and the computer speaker 1/8 inch female socket. Radio Shack has the right adapter but I could not find it online. This set does have the right one though:
