How do I remove the chuck from my 36V Dewalt cordless drill?
Most chucks are removed as follows:
Open the chuck all the way and look down inside. There is probably a screw inside at the bottom. Remove this screw. It may be left hand thread, depends on the model.
Now the hard part. The chuck is usually screwed on pretty tight. Tighten something “L” shaped into the chuck. Hit this “L” shaped item with a hammer to try to break the hold the threads have on the chuck. Once this is done, you should be able to screw it off by hand. You need that impact shock to break the hold.
I usually chuck something inside where I can get either a hammer drill or impact wrench on it to unscrew it.
It can be a pain, but it will come if you keep at it.
